In the past 16 years the St. Lawrence Quartet has established itself among the world-class chamber ensembles of its generation. In 1992 they won the Banff International String Quartet Competition and Young Concert Artists Auditions, both of which launched them on a performing career that has taken them across North and South America, Europe and Asia.The group annually performs over 100 concerts worldwide and has performed at Lincoln Center with Menachem Pressler and in many major U.S. cities. They have collaborated with the Emerson and Ying Quartets and performed with major orchestras. They regularly perform traditional repertoire, but are “fervently committed to performing works of living composers” and are currently Ensemble in Residence at Stanford University, working with music students and collaborating with other faculty and departments.
